Navigating 2021 – The Year of Sustainable Growth

Ok so 2020, what a year right? That definitely took us by surprise to say the least. But I hope I’m not alone when I say that because of what we went through in 2020, we stepped into 2021 ready. We stepped into this year expecting the unexpected and not afraid to take risks because despite all that we went through in 2020 – God kept us. 

It’s 2021. We just stepped in. If we are going to correctly navigate through this year then we are going to have to get the right kind of mindset. If we look at what is going on around us we could say that this year has started off in confusion and chaos. Correct? Or not necessarily?

What does God require of us in this season? Let us start the year as we mean to go on:

Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king as supreme… – 1 Peter 2:13.

Ok so we need to submit ourselves to every ordinance, meaning the ordering of civil government. But we also know that God is not the author of confusion, – 1 Corinthians 14:33.

It could be argued that we are living in times of confusion. Not necessarily. So how do we reconcile these two Scriptures? We pray. We pray for “kings and all those in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”

Let’s talk about contentment, purpose and living a quiet life.

Contentment:

The bible says that Godliness with contentment is great gain – 1 Timothy 6:6

Contentment is a noun meaning the state of happiness and satisfaction.

Why this ? Why that? When, When, When? It’s one thing when the questions are between you and God in the quiet place. It’s another thing all together when people take it upon themselves to be questioning you about your life. It’s 2021, the year of sustainable growth be anxious for nothing..

When they keep asking you questions – God’s not worried so why should I worry?

Now is a time to be content – happiness/satisfaction – and seek the face of God for your own life. You can also seek His redemptive plan for the countries struggling around the world. You don’t need to deflect your anxious thoughts by questioning others about their life. If you are so concerned you can pray for them.

James 5:16 says that, “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”  

It’s 2021, the year of sustainable growth. Let us be content and stop explaining ourselves to people. Let us seek the Lord for His redemptive plan. Sometimes people are having anxious thoughts about their own lives and instead of them to ask for prayer they switch it round like they are concerned about you. Now is not the time. Be content.

Purpose:

There’s nothing wrong with allowing a person to live out their purpose and serve God. You don’t need to concern yourself with all the intricate details of their life. It’s like people are just dumbfounded by others ability to serve God and carry out their purpose. It’s ok to just do what God told you to do.  It’s ok to allow people to walk in their purpose. Allow God to create His wonderful tapestry, in His own time.

“Delight yourself in Him and He will give you the desires of your heart.”  – Psalms 37:4

It’s 2021, the year of sustainable growth, we’re still praying and believing God for the things we want to see in our own lives, in our communities and in the world around us. As a new convert or maybe even someone that didn’t know Christ, your standards may have been a bit different. You didn’t know who you were back then. You know who you are now, seek God for His perfect plan. Don’t let anyone rush you off course. Continue to pursue your purpose.

I know they keep talking, they keep bombarding you with their negative, anxious thoughts. Knowingly or unknowingly they may even be planting seeds of fear and doubt. It’s 2021, the year of sustainable growth. Even in seasons of uncertainty God is faithful, we can still make bold moves; He does not forsake His saints.

^“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”  – Psalms 37:25

The Quiet Life:

We’ve come a long way to get here. Now is not the time to be discouraged, listening to the anxious thoughts of others. God is still going to do exactly what He said He was going to do. Trust. Him.

Luke 1:45 “Blessed Is She Who Believed That The Lord Would Fulfil His Promises To Her.”

And finally, although it’s good to show concern for your fellow brothers and sisters, let us remember what Jesus said, it’s good to, “Lead a quiet life, mind your own business, work with your hands.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:11

People always want to question what God is doing.

  “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? – Job 38:4
